FiKumer®-F – Top Performance in Plastic Form
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a high-performance plastic characterized by a unique combination of chemical resistance, temperature resistance, and excellent sliding properties. Proven over decades, it is used wherever other materials reach their limits.
PTFE at a Glance
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a semi-crystalline fluoroplastic classified as a thermoplastic, although due to its extremely high viscosity above the melting temperature, it cannot be molded like other thermoplastics.
The primary raw material is the mineral calcium fluoride, from which the monomer tetrafluoroethylene is extracted through numerous production steps. Initially in gaseous form, the tetrafluoroethylene is liquefied, purified, and then polymerized.
Thanks to its unique properties, which combine an optimal range of characteristics valuable for many applications, PTFE is constantly finding new areas of use. In addition to an extremely low coefficient of friction, PTFE exhibits, above all, high chemical resistance and excellent thermal properties.
Advantages of PTFE Compounds
