Bellows
– Flexibility That Protects

The Fietz Group manufactures bellows made of PTFE. Bellows are flexible, pleated components used to accommodate movement, expansion, vibration, or misalignment in piping systems or machine structures – even under particularly demanding chemical or thermal conditions.

Fietz Bellows at a Glance

The Fietz Group manufactures bellows according to your drawings or specifications.

Fietz bellows are frequently used in medical technology, the food processing industry and mechanical engineering.

Important: There are different pleat types:

Round pleats

machined round pleats – these bellows have increased pressure resistance

Pointed pleats

stamped pleats – higher strokes possible, suitable for lower pressures

Why choose a PTFE bellows for your application?

Material properties of PTFE

Material properties of PTFE

Excellent chemical resistance
PTFE reacts with virtually no common chemicals – even strong acids, alkalis, or solvents do not attack it.

Wide temperature range
Typically usable from approximately –200 °C to +260 °C.

Very low coefficient of friction
Low adhesion, easy to clean.

Ageing-resistant
No embrittlement due to UV radiation or weathering.

Construction and function

Construction and function

A PTFE bellows consists of a thin-walled, pleated PTFE structure.
The pleat geometry allows for:

• Axial movements – extension/compression
• Lateral movements – lateral deflection
 Angular deflection

In many applications, PTFE bellows are combined with stainless steel or plastic support rings to increase pressure resistance.

Typical Applications

Typical Applications

• Chemical industry – acid and alkali lines
• Pharmaceutical and food industry – sterile, easy to clean, FDA-compliant
• Semiconductor manufacturing – high purity, no contamination
• Medical technology – gas and liquid transport without contamination
• Laboratory equipment – corrosive media, aggressive cleaning

Advantages over metal or rubber bellows

Advantages over metal or rubber bellows

• No corrosion
• No migration of plasticizers
• Wider temperature and chemical resistance range
• High purity – no abrasion into the medium
